More Room in Domino Designer

Hat tip to Brad Balassaitis for this quick tip.  And he didn’t even say it to me.  I was watching a Notes in 9 video that Brad did and I saw something interesting about his Designer setup.  Instead of the left-hand pane with navigator/outline/etc, center pane with designer and source, and a right pane with controls and data, he had the left-hand pane with navigator, outline, control panel, data source, etc and the big pane with designer and source.  Duh.  He eliminated the right-hand pane.  I work a lot of the time on my laptop, so screen real estate is important.  Combining two panes (that I always have to flip through anyway) is brilliant!

I also move my outline up top on the left as well.  So it’s longer and I can find elements easier.

Also don’t forget Ctrl-M for maximizing the edit window.  So you can ctrl-M as a toggle.

Definitely – I have a pretty similar setup, but with Apps and Package Explorer being the two left panes. I also tend to double-click the tab for my current editor when doing a lot of editing.

    Or double-click the tab.

Real developers don’t use the mouse ;-)

Yep, David, that’s what I did, too!
